Also known as ‘Pappoules’ or ‘Psares’, prized for their crisp and flavourful foliage and characterised by the curly frond ends. The leaves are traditionally eaten raw in salads and can be cooked like most other leafy greens also.

Lathyrus ochrus ‘Pappoules’
- A wild growing pea that is found along the costal mountainsides throughout Greece, Cyprus and Turkey.
- Known in Greek as ‘Pappules’ or ‘Psares’.
- It has crisp and flavourful leaves which are harvested and traditionally eaten raw in salads. The tender leaf-tops are mostly used.
- The seeds are also traditionally used in cooked dishes like a bean and can be made into dips like ‘fava’.
- Characterised by the curly fronds at the tip of the foliage.
- It has a climbing growth pattern and can be grown on a trellis or left to spread along the ground.
- They are great grown amongst winter veggies as a companion to boost and fix soil nutrient balance.
- An annual variety that grows throughout winter and spring.
- Spreads up to 80-120cmH.
